Airlie Beach is the tourist area, North East of Mackay on the edge of the Coral sea. Shute Harbour is separated from Airlie Beach at the South end by a road that runs through a strip of rocky country and national park. Airlie Beach and Shute (Chute) Harbour are a beautiful area, with scenic views, new developments and number of eateries and licensed venues. Between the two is the Airlie Airport. Shute harbour is the embarkation point for cruises to a number of Whitsunday Islands, there is a newer departure point at Airlie beach, which services the islands as well. Outside the tourist strip are a number of acreage blocks, with a semi-tropical landscape and a stable population, as well as new developments. Hamilton Island is one of the more expensive places to operate as a Private Investigator, as a private island that guards the privacy of it's guests closely.  Hamilton offers no day trips, you require accommodation. They are extremely unhelpful for anything relating to investigations, including attempting to serve documents on staff or guests. They have also previously declined to assist with investigations into incidents that occurred on the island. Now, from the point of guest privacy this may be a good thing, but when attempting to investigate the fraudulent activity of a person staying there it is a large hindrance (but, as we proved, not insurmountable). Surveillance on the island must be conducted discreetly.
Hayman Island is more accessible than Hamilton. It is a family and backpacker orientated resort without the restrictions that are faced on Hamilton. Private Investigations can be successfully conducted here, under reasonable conditions.  However, we cannot operate overtly on most of the tourist orientated islands for surveillance; they are all sensitive with regard the privacy of guests, which is not unreasonable. Relationship investigations take planning, and if on the islands, are expensive. Most child custody and Workcover, Workers Compensation, investigation is conducted on the mainland.
