Traffic Accident RULES

1. Never admit fault. This may affect your insurance.
2. Never take part in a record of interview, unprepared. Even an innocent person can give the wrong answers, or feel somehow at fault, when being put through a formal interview.
3. Contact us, or a solicitor, early, if you feel that someone is implying you are in the wrong, or you don't know what happened.
4. Take note of any witnesses at the scene, or people with a GoPro, don't believe the police will do more than a cursory look, and a tick and flick form; they often don't record witness details anymore.
5. Get investigators started on your case early if you, or your family, were injured.  If you feel the incident was caused by another, or if you believe that there may be a court case at some time in the future.
6. If you don't remember the accident, and what your told doesn't make sense, get someone to look at it, to investigate.7. Police do not attend many traffic accidents now, make sure to take a photograph of the front, and back, of the other drivers licence. Take a photograph of the vehicle's, including "in situ". Get all details of the registered owner of the vehicle, the Police will not assist you with details.

The Government has deemed that you have no right to details of the vehicle owner, for another vehicle involved in an accident, and often, now, where there are no injuries, they refuse to attend. They do not investigate, even if someone has driven into, and written off, your brand new car, unless there is an injury, someone is taken away in an ambulance!

When you are in the 'right', in an accident, or more in the right, and we can provide your solicitors with documented evidence to support this position, you may find that the other sides insurance will take over hospital bills and rehabilitation costs. If you are injured, this is a weight off your mind. It is in their interest, or their insurers interest, to look after you as they know they will have to pay in the long run. Call us early, as soon as possible after the accident, even if you are injured and in hospital. You would be amazed what we can turn up. The earlier you investigate the more evidence still exists, the chances of a good outcome increases.

The police are not there to look after your interests, or sometimes even to find out the truth. They are there because they were sent there, they just want to fill in the form, make it safe, and leave, this is especially true if it's late at night, a weekend, they were on their way to something else, or the jobs are backing up. Some police are excellent, and do a good job, but many haven't been taught the correct way, and do sloppy work.

A serious accident, with a fatality, is generally investigated more thoroughly, by a trained specialist (though not always); a run of the mill accident, with injuries, an injured vehicle occupant, is not treated as seriously. There are specialist traffic accident investigation police, who generally attend serious accidents, in built up areas; you can expect them to generally get things right, if they are called early enough.

Be aware, that anyone investigating an accident needs some sort of physical evidence to work with, or something extra like GoPro footage, as well as witness statements (affidavits), especially where you need the weight of evidence to debunk another version of events. This is why early action is important, if you are injured, but someone else is available to attend, and show us the scene, that is appreciated.

A private investigator is there to search for information, the key witness, the GoPro footage, the physical evidence left at the accident scene, to gather affidavits, and to look for the evidence, the information, that helps establish what really happened, and who was at fault. This evidence can be used to have their insurance assist you to recover. When you need a traffic accident investigation, when you need a version of events investigated, you need an experienced, licensed, private investigator, call us.

Traffic accident investigation: To investigate a traffic accident, a traffic incident, we will record the conditions as they exist, rather than wait years then go back to look. Roads change, signage changes, marks wear away, tree's grow and buildings are knocked down. We can record what you could see, what they could see and what conditions are like at the time. We can look for the other witnesses the police didn't bother with, and record their memories as affidavits, there and then, rather than 5 years down the track when they are hazy memories.

People rely on a police investigation, and expect that the police will record things that benefit them. People think ambulance members will remember the specifics of their incident 5 years ago. Sometimes they will, most time they won't. Many years down the track is far too late to find out that this didn't happen (it often doesn't get thoroughly investigated, a flick and tick form was used, or the notes are lost).
